Who are we and what do we do?

Multicultural Centre Saaga is an international meeting place in Kouvola town centre. You will find us at Kouvolankatu 14, Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm. Saaga is run by a non-profit association, Kouvolan kansainvälinen kohtauspaikka ry. We get our funding from projects and grants and lot of work is based on volunteering.

Saaga’s meeting place is a shared living room, where you can find board games and other activities, tea/coffee, laptops, smiling people and new friends. Everyone is welcome to join us! There is always a warm and welcoming atmosphere. People from over 40 different countries visit Saaga regularly, so there is always a chance to practice foreign languages – or find someone who speaks you mother language.

In Saaga we provide free info service for immigrants and non-Finnish speaking people. Whether you need to book tickets or ask about your immigration status, buy a gym membership, look for a job or start driving lessons – Saaga is the place to go. Whatever your problem is, we will do our best to help you! Finnish language and bureaucracy can be tough to deal with if you are on you own. No need to book an appointment, just walk in and tell us you need help. Our staff is there for you.

Saaga organises lots of different activities for everyone. We have international youth evenings, disco-nights, picnics, beach days, bus trips to Helsinki, sports days, ethnic food days, anti-racism events, visits to schools and walks in conservation areas, among other things. Everyone is welcome to join us!

Would you like to meet new people? Get new friends maybe? Find something to do? Are you interested in foreign cultures? Do you need advice or help? Do you have some skills you would like to share? Do you want to learn to speak Finnish? If you answered YES to any of the above questions, then Saaga is the place for you. Visit us for more information!
